The Michigan Department of Transportation is inviting the public to review the I-96/Fruit Ridge Avenue interchange rebuild project

The City of Walker and MDOT are investing approximately $30 million to rebuild and widen Fruit Ridge Avenue, which runs north to south over I-96 from 3 Mile Road to Northridge Drive in Walker.

The project replaces the Fruit Ridge Avenue overpass and interchange built in 1961. It includes a new nonmotorized path along Fruit Ridge Avenue and 3 Mile Road with trail connections on the north and south sides of I-96.

The Michigan legislature approved a $25 million grant to help fund the project, which is expected to support 276 jobs.

Residents, business owners and community stakeholders are invited to discuss the project with MDOT staff and city representatives Monday, March 3rd, at Walker City Hall from 4:30-6 p.m.
