Life EMS Ambulance is now providing medical response to the Cities of Norton Shores and Roosevelt Park, along with Fruitport and Sullivan Townships.
Operations will run out of a Norton Shores’ fire station, with ambulances stationed strategically across the area.
Life EMS President Mark Meijer says crews have worked in Muskegon County in the past but this partnership marks a new chapter.
“We've provided a lot of mutual aid and backup responses in the Muskegon County over the years, and but this is our first time covering 911 medical calls within Muskegon. “
Muskegon County Central Dispatch will take incoming 911 calls then route to Life EMS Central Control in Grand Rapids.
Meijer says the expansion is being coordinated with local fire department and municipal leaders to ensure continuity of emergency medical care for residents and visitors.
“It was a good fit and ties right in with our expansion in northwestern Ottawa County, so we're just really happy about being able to bring the Life EMS brand of service to more parts of the lakeshore.”
The company responds to medical emergencies over 5,000 square miles of West Michigan including twelve counties.
