La Colombe Coffee Roasters announces $479 million expansion of Norton Shores facility

La Colombe Coffee Roasters is planning a two-phase expansion at its facility in Norton Shores.

The plan was approved by the Norton Shores Planning Commission earlier this month.

The $479 million investment includes $132 million for new buildings and $347 million for new equipment. Plans call for expanding the eastern side of the building by nearly 53,000 square feet, including new truck loading areas. Phase two adds nearly 2,000 square feet within the existing facility.

La Colombe has been operating out of Norton Shores since September 2016, when it began with 37 employees. It currently employs 250 people. The expansion will add another 100 workers.

The expansion supports increased production and distribution of products such as ready-to-drink lattes and cold brew coffees, which will be distributed nationally and internationally.

Construction could begin in the next few weeks.
