The Right Place, Lakeshore Advantage and Greater Muskegon Economic Development are teaming up to put together a regional grant application based on ideas from the public.

Michigan’s Revitalization and Placemaking Program offers $75 million to communities throughout the state supporting infrastructure development, real estate rehabilitation, and public space improvements.

“Improvements could be parks, skating rinks, bandshells, streetscape improvements, those types of things. Placemaking are projects that are going to be impactful, that are going to be strategic to your downtown areas and bring people together in any number of ways.”

Cathy Brubaker-Clarke is grants and program manager with Greater Muskegon Economic Development. She says up to $500,000 is available for projects, with a 50% match from each sub-applicant.

“In our case, we’re actually giving priority to projects that come in at $250,000 or less with the hope that we can give out more grants.”

You can find a link to project submission forms here. That submission process will be live until December 5th, 2024, at 5 p.m.
