Ohio-based American Freight stores are beginning to close this month after parent company Franchise Group, Inc. filed for bankruptcy.
Company officials blamed the bankruptcy on “sustained inflation and macroeconomic challenges” in a recent press statement.
American Freight has more than 370 furniture stores across the U.S., including 15 in Michigan.
West Michigan locations include Battle Creek, Grand Rapids, Muskegon, and Portage.
Franchise Group also owns Pet Supplies Plus and The Vitamin Shoppe stores, which are expected to stay open as the company restructures to manage its debts.
