West Michigan hospitals get yearly report card from safety group

Area hospitals get mixed grades of A's, B's and C's in safety ranking study

The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit focused on patient safety, released its fall 2024 Hospital Safety Grade, evaluating nearly 3,000 hospitals on their ability to prevent medical errors, accidents and medication safety.

In West Michigan, A’s go to Trinity Health Grand Rapids, and Corewell Health Zeeland and Greenville locations

Its grade B for Corewell Health Butterworth and Blodgett, and Holland Hospital

A grade of C goes to University of Michigan Health West and Trinity Health in Grand Haven and Muskegon.

National grades show hospitals are making progress in patient safety including notable improvements in infections, hand hygiene and medication safety.
