Drew Nichols is Maintenance Superintendent with the Muskegon County Road Commission. He tells us the focus is on main trunklines as blizzard conditions continue blowing drifting snow.
“So, right now, they’re just scrapping. They’re trying to keep the snow off the road with the wind that’s blowing and putting it there. We have split shifts. So, we have a night shift and a day shift. The night shift primarily sticks on state trunkline to keep that clear because it gets the most traffic volume. So, I mean, we’re fully staffed around the clock during the event.”
Crews are working 16-hour stints with an eight-hour break in between shifts.
