U.S. Representative Hillary Scholten is the Democratic incumbent seeking re-election in Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District. Her challenger is Republican Terri DeBoer.

U.S. Representative Hillary Scholten is the first woman to serve Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District. The Grand Rapids Democrat is a former U.S. Department of Justice attorney. Her top priorities are lowering the cost of living by bringing down healthcare and prescription drug costs, increasing the supply of affordable housing, and supporting good paying jobs. Second, government accountability.

“That’s what my Integrity in Government bill aims to do. I’ll bring transparency, fiscal responsibility and focus on making government work better for the people it serves.”

Finally, Scholten will invest in Michigan’s future by protecting natural resources, strengthening public schools, repairing infrastructure and preparing the future workforce.

Republican Terri DeBoer is a meteorologist who has worked in the West Michigan market for over 30 years. The Byron Center resident has served on local commissions and boards including the Education Freedom Fund and Mental Health Foundation.

Her top priority is also making the cost of living more affordable by lowering taxes, the cost of prescription drugs and unleashing American energy. Secondly, healthcare.

“I believe we need to put patients back in control by expanding competition, expanding choice, and making healthcare work for the people it’s suppose to serve, not a giant federal bureaucracy.”

Lastly, DeBoer says every child deserves the best education and supports school choice.

Green Party candidate Joe Jock was invited to participate.
