Michigan will have a new Secretary of State. Incumbent Jocelyn Benson is term limited and running as the Democratic nominee for Governor

Democrat Garlin Gilchrist is former Lieutenant Governor. That’s where he took a leading role in delivering free pre-k for all and connecting Michiganders with reliable internet. As the country’s only statewide elected software engineer, his top priorities are defending state-run elections, keeping corporate and dark money out of politics and protecting people’s personal information.

“And not forked over to big tech companies that violate your privacy for profit. So, they can build products without your permission, build data models without your consent, and feed it through data centers people don’t want in their communities.”

Republican Anthony Forlini is current Macomb County Clerk. He also served Michigan’s 24th District in the State House of Representatives and as Supervisor of Harrison Township. His top priorities are secure and transparent elections, protecting the Office of the Great Seal and operational efficiency.

“By cross training our employees, by answering the phone, by implementing technology to make our systems better. I’m the only one that’s actually in this race that’s done these things to bring operational efficiency.”

Libertarian Party candidate Christine Sloan, U.S. Taxpayer Party candidate Scott Aughney and Green Party Candidate Eric Borregard were also invited to participate.
