The proposal would renew Ferrysburg’s street repair millage to 1.5 mills from 2027 through 2031.
Voters initially approved the millage in November 2021, but reductions under the state’s Headlee Amendment have lowered the current rate to 1.4076 mills.
The Headlee Amendment makes local governments roll back tax millage rates if property values rise faster than the rate of inflation.
If approved, a property with a taxable value of $200,000 would pay $300 annually, or just over $18 more than the previous rate.
The millage will generate around $435,000 in its first year. Since 2021, the millage has collected around $1.5 million for street repairs.
Funding raised will be used to repair up to 20 streets including Cherokee Drive, Carlson Avenue, and 170th Avenue.
