The Muskegon City Commission is expected to take action on portions of the complicated project at its meeting Tuesday

The Muskegon City Commission anticipates moving ahead several aspects of the long-planned project to create more public waterfront and economic development on Muskegon Lake and River.

The complex process includes multiple stakeholders in land swaps or purchases of private property, the protection of wetlands, and business and housing developments.

The City Manager, Mart Dock representatives, and their legal teams have continued working on the development agreement previously presented to the commission which now includes a profit-sharing agreement, details for the city to acquire the nearby Verplank Dock property, and a due diligence period.

The Muskegon City Commission is expected to approve the updated agreement, and take up several zoning requests for the Mart Dock property, as well as approve rezoning a portion of Fisherman’s Landing.

The meeting is Tuesday December 9 at 5:30 in the Commission Chambers at Muskegon City Hall.
