From a pool of 58 candidates, the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners has chosen five finalists for the open position of County Administrator.
Moving ahead to the next interview stage are: Kurt Dykstra, Matthew Farrar, Chris Kukulski, Paul Sachs, and Patrick Waterman.
The five finalists will take part in community workgroup interviews Monday conducted by municipal professionals and community partners.
Wednesday they’ll interview with the Board of Commissioners at a public meeting.
The county will provide a live stream of the interviews.
The previous administrator John Gibbs was hired in 2023 and fired a year later.
Gibbs sued, and the board settled the case with a $190,000 payout.
Former Sheriff Gary Rosema is the interim administrator.
This is the third attempt to fill the position.
The first in November 2024 ended with two finalists dropping out of the running; a second in June saw all but one finalist withdraw after a contentious public board meeting.
