Board Chair John Teeples said the board will be reaching out to all the candidates over the summer

“The new administrator is this board’s top priority. There’s no question about that. But there’s no drama where we stand today. There’s no urgency in where we stand today.”

Ottawa County Board Chair John Teeples explained that, despite recently cutting ties with search firm Double Haul Solutions to help coordinate search efforts, the board is on track to pick a new administrator within the next few months.

“We still have over 30 candidates, folks, that have expressed interest. Just in the last week I’ve received several more. And there’s more coming.”

Interim Administrator Gary Rosema suggested the process of collecting applicants be continued through the summer so board members and applicants can get through their vacations and family time.

“I think there’s some opportunities by mid-September to be sitting here and either the board or maybe a committee has a slate of people they want to bring forward and we just get it done.”

Teeples said the board will be reaching out to all the candidates over the summer. The review process will begin on the first of September.
