The program was being funded by the State Digital Equity Capacity Grant program, which has now been named “unconstitutional” by the President and can’t continue unless the funding returns

The U.S. Department of Commerce abruptly terminated a nation-wide program that was geared towards making the digital world easier to navigate for the average person.

Here in Michigan,13 organizations, ranging from local governments to universities, were impacted by the cuts.

Alison Arnold is with Central Michigan University’s Rural Health Equity Institute. She says they were set to receive over $800,000 to break down barriers for telehealth and online healthcare services.

"So, we have all these portals now, for our health, for older folks for even accessing their social securities and their Medicaid. Everybody has to go through the portal"

The termination letter stated that President Trump found the programs to be quote "unconstitutional."
