Public meeting planned for M-46 project in Muskegon

No Copyright

Residents can meet with leaders from the Michigan Department of Transportation discussing the 2026 rebuild of M-46 in Muskegon

M-46 is a major east-west arterial street home to a range of residential and business districts. Known as Apple Avenue, a two mile stretch west of US-31 from Muskegon Avenue to Home Street is being redesigned.

The city and MDOT have been planning for this project since the summer of 2023. Starting this year, residential water service lines will be replaced improving water safety and complying with state and federal regulations.

Once those lines are replaced, construction will begin with a new sanitary sewer and water main. New concrete curbs, gutters, and concrete sidewalks will be installed along with roadway asphalt resurfacing. Motorists can expect a lane reconfiguration. Additional green space will also be added to Root Memorial Park.

MDOT will seek public input from residents and stakeholders on Monday, February 24th from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Muskegon City Hall Chambers. MDOT and city officials will be available to answer questions.

More info on the project can be found online here.
