“Man, it’s hard to believe this is my last city commission meeting.”
It’s the last city commission meeting for Mayor Rosalynn Bliss, and city clerk Joel Hondorp says he will miss her.
“After 19 years we will no longer have bliss on this dais I’m sorry a bliss we will still have bliss a different kind of bliss.”
Bliss served for 10 years as a second ward commissioner, and the last nine as mayor. She is unable to run for reelection because of term limits,
“I’m just so grateful. Leading the city has truly been the privilege of a lifetime.”
As an elected leader Bliss worked with several city managers, many staff members and city commissioners.
“I have served with 20 different city commissioners, and I have disagreed with some of them way more than others but even when I disagreed with them, I never questioned their heart or love for this city,”
David LeGrand, the candidate she endorsed, is replacing Bliss as mayor. She says she’ll be watching.
“I’m not going away; I’ll still be involved I will just be involved in fewer things.
And I truly truly, truly will cherish being able to serve our city as mayor for the rest of my life so thank you everyone with that we will adjourn (applause) thanks.”
