As Ottawa County Parks nears completion of the acquisition of an additional 127-acre property adjacent to the current Rosy Mound Natural Area, the department plans to share its preliminary master plan with the public at the Ottawa County Parks & Recreation Commission meeting this week.
Last month, the department wrapped up its efforts collecting feedback on what the public would like to see at the expanding park. That feedback has helped shape the master plan.
Once the adjoining property is acquired, the intention is to merge the two properties, creating a 291-acre park and expanding on experiences, such as doubling the size of the hiking trail system. The adjoining acreage is a former sand mining site that ceased operation a few years ago.
You can join the meeting in-person on Wednesday, December 18th at 3 PM at the Fillmore Complex board room, or you can watch online. You can find a link to that here. Public comment will only be available in-person.
