The Michigan DNR is recommending how $8 million from Land and Water Conservation grants should be distributed.
In total, 15 projects in 12 counties are receiving DNR recommendations: funding supporting projects such as trail improvements, splashpads, playscapes, restroom upgrades, boating access updates, outdoor ice arena improvements, and more.
In Ottawa County alone, three parks would see upgrades.
Park Township Community Park would receive $500,000 for restroom and parking projects.
Ottawa County’s Upper Macatawa Greenway trailhead would receive over $347,000 for improvements.
And the DNR Parks and Recreation Division of Ottawa County would receive $750,000 for Phase I of the Idema Explorer’s Trail.
Projects were selected from 16 grant applications from local governments and two applications from the DNR, totaling over $9 million.
