The closure was announced in an email sent to Grandville Public School parents Wednesday evening by Superintendent Roger Bearup.
The email indicated that a tip came from OK2SAY, the tip line program run by the Michigan State Police. The tip stated that there were rumors circulating regarding someone pulling a fire alarm at “Grandville Intermediate” and attacking students outside.
Bearup’s email went on to say that since officials would not have enough time to conduct a thorough investigation by Thursday morning, all of Grandville Public Schools, including preschool and Treehouse programs, would be closed out of an abundance of caution.
A decision concerning the cancellation of Thursday’s evening activities would be made once more information could be gathered.
This is the most recent in a string of incidents involving school threats over the past two weeks. On Friday, September 13th, both Jenison Public Schools and Three Rivers Schools closed due to social media threats, as did Byron Center Schools the previous Monday.
