The sting was a joint operation between the Kent County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office Human Trafficking Task Force along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s West Michigan-based Child Exploitation Task Force, also known as WEBCHEX, brought together several undercover agents and detectives.

Those agents, posing as minors, placed ads on social media and cell phone apps. This resulted in alleged contact from multiple men who began communicating electronically with the agents, sending and requesting sexually explicit photos and videos. Two men also allegedly drove to meet who they thought were minors for sex.

In total, four suspects were arrested.

Those suspects are 40-year-old Justin Hastings of Comstock Park,

36-year-old Samuel Durham of East Grand Rapids, 66-year-old Thomas Ramsey of Wyoming, and 40-year-old Jason Burgess of Colon.

All suspects will face three felony charges and face anywhere from 4 years to life behind bars if convicted.

Two more suspects are expected to be arrested pending further investigation, one of them from Indiana.

If you have any information regarding this case or know of someone being trafficked or exploited, you are asked to contact the Kent County Sheriff’s Office
