According to a release from the Michigan State Police, the incident happened around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning near 52nd Street and Eastern Avenue.
While attempting to arrest a man who was wanted on several outstanding felony warrants, the suspect ran from officers.
During the foot pursuit, an unmarked fugitive team vehicle struck the individual.
He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, but later died.
MSP expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and asked for the public’s patience as they work to gather all the evidence and facts surrounding the incident.
