The commission will appoint someone to serve until December 31st

Commissioner Nathanial Moody resigned with a year remaining in his term. City Clerk Joel Hondorp says the commission will appoint someone to serve until December 31st

“This will be the last year of his term so it will be to fill the vacancy for this year.”

The deadline to apply is February first. Applicants must live in the city, be registered to vote in the third ward and Mayor Rosalynn Bliss and clerk Hondorp say they must not owe the city any money.

“In order to be appointed you have to be n good standing that’s actually a requirement correct for example anything with income tax or property tax.”

The city commission will interview 3 finalists and possibly appoint someone at their March 5th meeting. The other 3rd ward commissioner, Kelsey Purdue, says the sooner the better.

“I’m really looking forward to this process and getting a colleague to serve and represent the third ward with me.”

“As soon as the individual is selected they will be sworn in immediately.”

City Commissioners are considered part time and earn $32,550 per year. I’m Phil Dawson
