Grand Valley Metro Council seeks input on Airport Access Study

The Grand Valley Metro Council is conducting an Airport Access Study for the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. The study is nearing completion and the council is seeking input on the study recommendations

A news release says the study on airport access has been looking at ways to improve access to the airport as well as the surrounding roads, freeways, walking and biking networks and bus system.

That study is now nearing completion and the study team has compiled a list of “Preferred Projects” to improve access to t he airport and surrounding area. The projects include direct airport access from I-96, airport shuttle services and bike and pedestrian facilities among others.

Residents are welcome to join a virtual public meting via Zoom and an in-person public open house this month. The study team will present the projects, gather input and answer questions. The Virtual public meeting is set for Thursday, January 19th from 5:30 to 6:30 while the in-person open house will be held Tuesday, January 24th from 4 to 6pm at the Kentwood Library Community room.
