The Grand Valley Metro Council is conducting an Airport Access Study for the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. The study is investigating ways to improve access to the airport.
Body: The Grand Valley Metro Council’s Airport Access Study will not only look at ways to improve access to the airport but also surrounding roads, freeways, walking and biking networks as well as the bus system.
The study team has developed an initial set of alternatives for improving access to the airport as well as the surrounding area. The options include additional access points directly to the terminal, new interchanges along M-6 and enhanced multi-modal (transit, bicycle, pedestrian) connections.
Laurel Joseph, the council’s Director of Transportation Planning says quote, “We have spent the early part of 2022 studying potential new transportation improvements in and around the Airport,” adding, “How people feel about these options, and suggestions or questions that they have about them, are an important part of the process and will be used to help us make final recommendations.” End quote.
