Fruitport Township Supervisor race goes to challenger Todd Dunham

Facebook

Fruitport Township voters Tuesday cast their ballots in favor of new leadership.

Even though Tuesday technically was a primary, current Fruitport Township Supervisor Heidi Tice and Challenger Todd Dunham both ran as Democrats, and without a Republican candidate, Tuesday unofficially was the election. And voters choose Dunham to take over the reins in Fruitport, as Tice will exit the job after serving over the past four years.

Speaking with Dunham Tuesday night, he said, it’s a job he has wanted his entire career.

“I’m so surpised and thankful for it, it's crazy,” Dunham said. “It’s overwhelming. I’m looking forward to it.”

Dunham is a lifelong Fruitport Township resident, and served as a sergeant in the Muskegon County Sheriff’s office for 30 years. A former Township Board member, Dunham said he wants to focus on business development in Fruitport, specifically near the Lakes Mall.
