A funeral service is planned for a newborn infant found dead at the Electric Forest music festival in June, and the public is invited to pay their respects

On the morning of June 28th, a cleaning crew found a deceased newborn girl inside a portable restroom at the Electric Forest music festival in Rothbury.

An autopsy determined the infant was full-term and born alive but only lived for one minute.

In October, an Oceana County probate judge appointed Travis Byrnes of Hudsonville as special fiduciary to arrange the child’s burial. The infant was named Grace for funeral purposes.

Grace’s funeral will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 9th at Fair Haven Church in Hudsonville. A burial service will follow at Georgetown Cemetery in Jenison.

The service is open to the public and organizers are asking the community to write letters to Grace, sharing memories of their own children, which will be buried with the baby.

Letters can be mailed to VanderLaan Funeral Home by Friday, November 6th, or attendees can bring them to the church the day of the funeral.

The Michigan State Police and FBI continue to investigate the death. A $15,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
