“So, as someone who is a combat veteran, I understand deeply the need and the obligation that we have to take care of our veterans.”
U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 10th congressional district John James met with veterans in Grand Haven. The Republican gubernatorial candidate said that, if elected, he would address the mental health care gap affecting many Michigan veterans.
“I’ve already gotten started in Congress, doing things that will help with substance abuse and mental health, but also making sure that we’re reintegrating back into life here, because they fought for us; now it’s our time to fight for them.”
James added Republicans and Democrats need to find common ground and embrace bipartisanship to get more done for Michigan residents.
“I think that’s what we need in a leader in the state of Michigan. Somebody who’s not focused on left and right, but somebody who’s focused on you. I’m excited for the opportunity to lead effectively for all 10 million Michiganders regardless of how you pray, look, or vote, and I’m excited for the opportunity to get Michigan back on track.”
The latest Lansing-based Mitchell Research & Communications poll shows Democrat Jocelyn Benson leading James by seven percentage points.
