Houghton-based developer Braveworks is proposing a 42-room boutique hotel at the former People’s State Bank on E. 8th Street in downtown Holland.
The planning commission held a study session September 8th to discuss the project with developers.
Plans for The Vault Holland include a speakeasy accessed through the bank’s former vault and an addition to the three-story commercial building.
It was constructed in 1928 and designated as a city landmark property noted for its Art Deco style and glazed terra cotta tile details.
Most recently operated as a Fifth-Third Bank branch, the property was sold in 2022 for nearly $4.5 million dollars to Holland Lakeview Holdings, listed as the current owner in city records.
Developers submitted design renderings and a parking management plan which includes valet service for its existing parking lot on 9th Street and proposals to share parking with nearby Pillar Church on Sundays.
The planning commission meets again October 13th.
