Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall rolled out more details on his plans to roll back property taxes

The Republican House leader let out more particulars on what he says will be property tax relief totaling five billion dollars.

His spokesperson says much of that lost revenue would be made up through a luxury tax on services such as country club and marina memberships, limousines, and travel on private jets.

He says the result would be a net total tax cut of 270 million dollars that would help make housing more affordable for middle class families.

Hall’s rollout coincides with Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s eighth and final State of the State address, where she is expected to propose an affordable housing tax credit as an incentive to home builders.
