No one is under arrest, but detectives in Grand Rapids say they are interviewing a person of interest connected to the murder of three people yesterday morning

“An adult female and two children. Looks like they are teenage”

The woman and two children were found shot to death around 8 o’clock Tuesday morning inside a home on Worden Street in southeast Grand Rapids.  Police chief Eric Wenstrom says they are all murder victims.

“Is it possible it would be a murder suicide or something?  It looks from the information we have this is a pure homicide. These three individuals were all murdered.”

During a meeting of the public safety committee, city manager Mark Washington said they are the first murders in Grand Rapids in over a month.

“It had been almost 38 days since the last homicide in our city and none of us expected to wake up to what we woke up to on a day where school was out and two of the three victims were youth. Our thoughts are with the family.”

During his nearly 4 years in the job, the police chief says

“This is the most violent day I’ve seen here.  Just devastating.”
