Holland Hospital is launching an expanded, enhanced wound healing program unique to the area

The Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine Program at Holland Hospital now offers advanced, hospital-b

Nationally recognized expert Dr. Lee Ruotsi leads the center as Medical Director.

“There is currently a list of 14 or 15 approved indications or uses for hyperbaric oxygen therapy but the most common uses in clinical medicine are in certain types of diabetic foot ulcers, problems related to medical radiation that people have had for various types of malignancies.”

The state-of-the-art Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy fights infections and promotes healing.

Patients breathe 100% oxygen in a pressurized environment.

“It will allow us to offer those treatments here without people having to make extended drives every day to have that therapy.”

Funding for two hyperbaric chambers housed in a dedicated suite was donated by Priscilla Becker in memory of her husband, Raymond C. Becker.

“He needed hyperbaric oxygen therapy and at that time it was not available at Holland Hospital, so they had to travel for many weeks back-and-forth every day To Grand Rapids. She decided that the best way to honor his memory and his legacy would be to donate the money for us to have the service at Holland Hospital, which is just wonderful. Her vision and the way this turned out is just beautiful.”
