Grand Rapids residents, leaders and stakeholders celebrated Saturday at the opening of the HUB 07 community space in the Boston Square neighborhood

“We have been working with neighbors since 2019 through an engagement process called Boston Square Together, and one of the things that we heard neighbors say and was a priority was some type of community gathering space.”

Director of Partnerships and Outreach at Amplify GR Jenny Luth says that vision is now a reality with the opening of HUB 07. The $26 million, 45,000 square-foot community center features a Corewell Health clinic, early learning center, coffee shop, and other nonprofits providing services to the Boston Square neighborhood.

“The investment into the neighborhood itself through infrastructure and different amenities has been lacking for a really long time.”

Nonprofit organization Amplify GR spearheaded the HUB 07 project and has tapped Habit for Humanity of Kent County to build 22 for-sale affordable townhomes on nine acres as part of its continuing Boston Square Together project.

“The investment that’s being made into Boston Square is really a reflection of what neighbors have wanted to see over the years.”

The townhouse portion of the project is expected to be completed in late 2027.
