“So, we’re going to have lots of services. The first will be primary care, which will include family medicine for both adults and children.”
Malissa Becksvoort is Director of Operations for Primary Care at Corewell. She explains why the health care provider decided to open a hub within the Boston Square community.

“Really, our call-to-action was that there is a lower life expectancy of 9.3 years for a resident of the Boston Square community compared to those in the East Grand Rapids neighborhoods, and we felt that this is something that we could improve upon in the community.”
Corewell will also host hiring events and staff financial counselors to help patients with insurance and billing issues.

“We’ll have women’s health, lifestyle medicine, which we’ll do cooking classes for the community. Our department of healthier communities will be doing education classes such as CPR and breast feeding and fatherhood classes.”
More organizations are expected to open within HUB 07 in the coming months, offering services aimed at increasing access to resources and education.
