Beams of light can once again be seen shooting into the night sky along the northeast side of Grand Rapids.
“We’ve been hearing all over social media about the potential aliens and UFOs. Those are our lights. That’s our skyrakers.”
Senior Vice President Steve LaWarre says ENLIGHTEN has become a new Meijer Gardens tradition, this year’s experience different from the last.
“Upscale food, beverages hot chocolate, authentic UP pasties, and then you get to experience the art walk in the garden in a brand-new light.”
ENLIGHTEN blends light, music, art and nature as visitors take a mile-long, evening stroll through the gardens.
“There’s overhead light canopies you walk through. You’ll see the ‘American Horse’ in a whole new light. You’ll walk out to our waterfall where there’s lasers and music and more of those skyrakers.”
Three interactive sites allow visitors to use movement to alter lights, sequence and sound effects.
“This is not an off-the-shelf light show. This is custom curated specially for Frederick Meijer Gardens. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen.”
The walk ends by leading visitors indoors to explore more than 40 holiday trees and cultural displays from around the world.
ENLIGHTEN runs through January 4, with tickets on sale on the Meijer Gardens website.
