“This site has been a methadone clinic and a primary care site for us and over the summer, with our funding from the City of Grand Rapids’ opioid settlement fund, we were able to take an additional 5,000-square-feet and build that out for additional behavioral health services.”
Cherry Health’s COO Bill Joure says this will be the health care provider’s most robust location thanks to a $500,000 grant from the city as part of a nationwide opioid settlement.
“The funds have to be used to improve the health and wellness of people struggling with substance use disorder.”

The center will offer behavioral health screenings, outpatient therapy, substance use disorder counseling, family therapy, as well as access to health workers, internet and community closet and pantry.
Joure says he hopes the center reaffirms Cherry Health’s message that recovery from substance abuse and food and housing insecurity is always possible.
“I want people to know that we’ve become a one-stop shop for helping them with all those things and helping them on their journey to wellness.”

The Kalamazoo Avenue center will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
