Acrisure to cut nearly 400 jobs in move to AI

Michigan Economic Development Corporation

Grand Rapids-based Acrisure has announced it will begin cutting jobs in early 2026. The insurance brokerage is automating hundreds of positions with artificial intelligence

In a statement to WGVU, Acrisure confirmed it will “reduce the size of our accounting workforce as the company continues to advance in technology and automation.”

In 2020, Acrisure purchased Tulco’s artificial intelligence insurance business for $400 million.

Crain’s Grand Rapids Business reports around 400 jobs will be cut next year, including nearly 200 in Grand Rapids, as the company moves toward AI technology. Employees were notified via a memo sent Wednesday.

Acrisure’s statement goes on to read, “This was not an easy decision, as it affects colleagues who have given so much to our company and our community. Acrisure remains very committed to the Grand Rapids community and our home state of Michigan, where we employ approximately 2,000 people and continue to hire for roles in various areas."

According to Crain’s, the company will provide severance packages, outplacement support and discretionary bonuses to affected staff members.
