Jubilee Ministries, Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity and Gateway Mission were approached by an unnamed property owner who wants to donate 18-acres to build affordable housing in the city of Holland.
“Both the donor and our organizations are going through due diligence to bring that land forward towards a donation.”
Executive Director of Jubilee Ministries, Steve Grose, says the property location remains under wraps until the donation is finalized, but the donor is a supporter of all three organizations.
“Jubilee and Habitat build for-sale housing. In the Holland area, there is a huge shortage of for-sale housing.”
Though the project is still in the planning stages, the partners propose 120 transitional housing units, along with starter homes reserved for buyers earning between 30% to 120% of the area median income.
“In the development, we also plan on making about 10% of the lots available for market rate builders if they’re interested.”
Over the past five years, Jubilee and Lakeshore Habitat have partnered on mixed-income affordable housing projects, adding 63 for-sale units to Holland’s south side. Gateway joined as a partner several years ago.
