“We are moving our warehouse, distribution, and all of our administration offices to this new location, really centralizing our operations for efficiencies.”
Sarah Hotchkiss is Vice-president of Development and Communications for Habitat Kent. She says the nonprofit organization had been leasing the building for the past few months, where it operates its ReStore. It purchased the building in the 1700 block of Elizabeth Avenue Northwest for $2.3 million.
“There will be about 43 of us, I believe, that are going to be all housed there. Some are already working out of there, but that’s how many will be there in total.”
Habitat Kent’s current office is in the Roosevelt Park neighborhood, where the organization is building a 54-unit affordable housing development called Pleasant Hills. Hotchkiss says they hope to find another nonprofit to take over their old office space.
“So, we are still looking for a partner who could provide a service to this community and to the new owners that will soon call this their home.”
Habitat Kent hopes to sell their old office and move into their new office by October.
