Kentwood school social worker arrested for inappropriate contact with kids

A 26-year-old Kentwood Public Schools social worker has been arrested for inappropriate communication with multiple juveniles

According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, Dequindre Malik Wiggins of Grand Rapids was arrested in Lexington, Kentucky Wednesday morning following an ongoing investigation, charged with Accosting a Minor for Immoral Purposes, a 4-year felony, and Using a Computer to Commit a Crime, a 7-year felony.

Wiggins is a Licensed Master Social Worker and was employed at Valleywood Middle School in Kentwood.

The investigation began May 9th when a parent reported to KCSO Wiggins made inappropriate contact with her child. Detectives and a Kentwood Public Schools Resource Officer continued the investigation revealing Wiggins contacted other juveniles online.

The Kent County Prosecutor’s Office issued a nationwide warrant for Wiggins. He was arrested by Lexington, Kentucky police. According to jail records, Wiggins has waived his right to an extradition hearing.
