James and Jennifer Crumbley are each serving between 10 and 15 years in prison for failing to stop their son from committing the 2021 mass shooting at Oxford High.
But defense attorneys contend the prosecution denied the Crumbley’s a fair trial because they never mentioned a deal for testimony from some school employees.
Assistant Prosecutor Marc Keast counters the agreement did not give the employees any immunity or sway the verdict.
KEAST: “It was James Crumbley’s gross negligence, it was James Crumbley’s causation that was the reason for his conviction Judge. The evidence in this case was overwhelming.”
The judge says she’s concerned by the failure to disclose the agreement, but is unsure what remedy that requires.
The judge estimates it will be at least a month before she makes a decision.
