The second phase of the MI Travel Counts surveys starts this week.
Beginning April 7, randomly chosen households in certain areas of Michigan will receive an invitation in the U.S. Mail.
If interested, household members will provide demographic information and then report their travel habits via smartphone app, online or telephone, providing data on how, when, where and why people travel in the state.
Experts will look at how travel behavior has changed over the ten years since the last study and use that data to make decisions about Michigan’s transportation system.
Changes include the prevalence of working remotely, the increase in online shopping and the greater use of ridesharing and delivery services.
The MI Travel Counts survey will be conducted by research firm Resource Systems Group on behalf of the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments.
The final phase of the study will occur this fall.
