There were no murders in Grand Rapids in the past month. The police chief also says there hasn’t even been a gunshot wound in the city since the end of January.

“Lot of good news today.”

In his monthly crime update to the city commission Grand Rapids police chief Eric Winstrom reports not much change in assault and robberies, but auto thefts are down significantly.

“Our numbers headed in the right direction for auto theft.”

And he says it’s been a month without gun violence in the city.

"My favorite news is this; we have not had an individual shot in the city of Grand Rapids since the last time we were together.”

And no new murders. Two homicides so far this year, neither death by gunfire.

“I hope this trend continues to head in the direction it is going.”
