Urban Soil Realty owner Brad Veneklase is planning a 763-thousand-dollar investment in the building

“This is a project between the Meanwhile and the Electric Cheetah on Wealthy”

The century old two-story blighted building at 1007 Wealthy Street stands out as an eyesore in an otherwise thriving section of the city. Mayor David LaGrand says he knows it well.

“That has been a sad little part of Wealthy Street for as long as I’ve been engaged with the Wealthy Street neighborhood.”

And Mayor LaGrand says the plan to renovate the building into retail or a restaurant downstairs and 4 apartments upstairs.

“Looks beautiful thanks love to see another four housing units going into town.”

Using grants and property tax incentives Urban Soil Realty owner Brad Veneklase is planning a 763-thousand-dollar investment in the building, making it modern without destroying its historic characteristics.

“It looks like you are largely going to keep the storefront intact if you could speak to that a little, Yea I actually got approval for exterior improvements to the historical society already.”

The developer is still waiting for the state to approve a community revitalization program grant. When the financing is secured, he says the project will take about 10 months to finish.

“And looking forward to reactivating the building.”
