Peterson Farms is increasing its capacity to produce and package fruit juices. The over $32 million project will create 96 new jobs. The company is making a $6 million land purchase and investing more than $26 million in new machinery and equipment.
The Michigan Strategic Fund board approved a 15-year exemption on a State Essential Services Assessment Exemption valued at nearly $577,000 to support the expansion.
Peterson Farms has locations in California and Florida. The MEDC says it considered increasing capacity there, but financial considerations led to its Oceana County headquarters expansion.
Peterson Farms is Oceana County’s largest employer with a local workforce of 640 people and provides wraparound services for many of its workers, including housing for 225 associates and their families, daycare, transportation and a recently added after-hours medical clinic.
