Firefighters battle flames at downtown Grand Haven building Saturday

Less than 24-hours after fire destroyed multiple businesses in a downtown Grand Haven building, other business owners are offering help

Smoke billowed from the Forum building just after 9:00 Saturday night on Fulton and Third Streets in downtown Grand Haven.

Multiple fire departments worked through the night to contain the fire and prevent it spreading to nearby residential buildings, but Grand Haven Department of Public Safety officials say the building known as the Forum is a total loss.

It housed multiple businesses.

1:40 “I’m pretty sure its majority, if not all, of those businesses are women-owned which I think is amazing.”

Mary Sherman is a partner at Design Force Marketing which recently moved, leaving its old building vacant.

The partners offered the space to the owners impacted by the fire, and several already gratefully accepted.

205“There’s plenty of struggles when it comes to business so to actually lose your place of doing business is so devastating. To be able to offer a spot where people can pick back up and hopefully not lose income - ongoing income – one way hopefully we can help.”

No one was hurt in the fire.
