Grand Rapids Township-based UFP Industries is expanding its reach into the southeast with the purchase of C&L Wood Products, Incorporated

UFP Packaging, LLC, an affiliate of UFP Industries, announced it has acquired the assets of C&L Wood Products, Inc., a manufacturer of pallets and mulch based in Hartselle, Alabama.

UFP Packaging works with a variety of industries offering customized packaging solutions, including wood pallets, custom skids, crates and other related services.

C&L will operate as part of UFP Packaging’s PalletOne business unit, which manufactures machine-built pallets in the U.S. PalletOne was acquired by UFP in late 2020.

C&L has been manufacturing wood products since 1975 and was acquired by Henry and Blythe Bowman in 1996. At that time, the company had 10 employees and an annual revenue of less than $1 million. Today, the company has about 115 employees and yearly sales of over $24 million.

Executive vice president of PalletOne Justin Elwell said the addition of C&L expands PalletOne’s geographic footprint and gives the company new access to high-volume pallet production in northern Alabama.

UFP was founded in 1955 and has affiliates in Europe, Asia and Australia.
