Walker-based Cheeze Kurls LLC is expanding with the purchase of a regional competitor

Cheeze Kurls LLC, which does business as CK Snacks, has acquired South Beloit, Illinois-based Axium Foods, Inc., a private label snack food company founded by Eugene McCleary of McCleary Industries in 1960.

Axium Foods specializes in the manufacturing of tortilla and corn chips.

With the acquisition, CK Snacks expands its portfolio, which includes the manufacturing of private label snack foods, including fried and baked products, as well as popcorn and party mixes. The acquisition allows CK Snacks to diversify its offerings and expand its market reach.

The move comes three months after Los Angeles-based Nexus Capital Management LP acquired Cheeze Kurls from Kilroy Partners.

Though the terms of the transaction were not disclosed, both CK Snacks and Axium Foods will continue to operate from their respective locations.

CK Snacks was founded in 1964 in Grand Rapids.
