A potential 1.0 to 1.5 mil millage is being considered to help fund construction of the new center

Township officials have stated that the new Park Township Community Center, which could be built at the corner of 152nd Avenue and Ottawa Beach Road, will include athletic courts, multipurpose and fitness rooms, a café and lounge, indoor kids’ play zone, and quiet space.

Last month’s town hall meeting about the new center brought out over sixty community members and local and nonprofit business leaders. Community Center Visioning Committee members and design and construction officials shared the overall vision, guiding principles and desired amenities for the project, and how public input shaped those goals.

A potential 1.0 to 1.5 mil millage is being considered to help fund construction of the new center. A 1.0 mil millage would cost a $200,000 home around $200 a year. The millage would raise about $28 to $42 million over a 20-year period. Other funding could come from general funds, philanthropy, and grants.

The committee will submit its recommendations for review with the Park Township Board of Trustees. Once approved, the Township will request design and construction proposals that align with community input.
