On November 6th, 2023, the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to a double homicide near Melville Avenue Southeast.

19-year-old Casey Harmon, Jr. has been charged with two counts of open murder and one additional felony weapons charge in the deaths of 20-year-old Anayia Rodriguez and 19-year-old Malik Eubanks.

On November 6th, 2023, the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to a double homicide near Melville Avenue Southeast.

Both Rodriguez and Eubanks were fatally shot and left lying in the street. Eubanks’ two-year-old son was found wandering alone about a mile away from the crime scene, unharmed, but with blood on him. The child was reunited with his mother.

A third homicide occurred approximately one hour after police had cleared the initial scene in the 2000 block of Horton Avenue Southeast. 32-year-old Darryl Yarber was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Kent County Medical Examiner determined his cause of death was due to a gunshot wound.

GRPD says there are no updates regarding Yarber’s case at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
