Grand Rapids Public Schools will host a community information session on renovation projects that are planned for both Houseman Field and Briggs Field. The session will include information about project timelines, work planned, and share initial renderings.
Houseman Field, which is located on Grand Rapid’s southeast side, can expect to receive a new track as well as new turf, LED lighting, expanded parking, and locker room upgrades.
Briggs Field on Grand Rapid’s northeast side will also receive a new track, along with field reseeding, bleacher upgrades, additional bathrooms, and fence and masonry upgrades.
Renovations are expected to happen summer of 2025 and will be funded by the Reimagine GRPS bond approved by voters during the November 2023 election.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 16th at 6 p.m. at GRPS University on Fuller Avenue Northeast.
Dean Transportation will also host their third town hall meeting on Tuesday, October 29th at 6:30 p.m. at Southwest Middle High School on Rumsey Street in Grand Rapids.
This will be an opportunity for students and parents to speak directly with leaders of Dean Transportation and GRPS about their experiences with transportation within the district.
More information about both meetings can be found online at GRPS.org
